Same-day crowns are made in our office by your dentist using a milling machine and digital technology. This in-office CAD/CAM process is more comfortable and precise than traditional impressions. The dentist takes 3D intraoral scans of your tooth to create a digital model. The model is then sent to a milling machine that carves your new crown out of a block of ceramic. In under two hours, your tooth goes from damaged and decayed to restored.

The model created by CEREC’s digital imaging scanner is able to capture even the smallest crevices and shape variances in your tooth. In addition, same-day crowns require less drilling of your tooth, which can preserve more of your natural tooth. This makes them ideal for patients with sensitive teeth and for those who have suffered from bruxism or jaw clenching. Since same-day crowns do not have to be sent out to a lab, there is also less chance that the crown will have issues or become compromised in transit.
